April 18th - “A Lady and her Spitfire”

Speaker - Maggie Radcliffe

were founded in 1996. Our catchment area is Church Langley but we welcome members from other areas who want to belong to a Women’s Institute that meets in the evening. We welcome guests and members from other institutes.

Since we began our membership has increased and represents a wide range of ages from the young to the young at heart. We have an active committee and encourage all members to participate in running the WI  and planning our activities. No contribution is too small.

At our monthly meetings, on the third Wednesday of each month we have a speaker and within our programme we cover a variety of topics of local and more general interest, mixing old favourites with new and unusual subjects. Each month we hold competitions and activities to raise funds for local charities. Throughout the year we organise outings and events that span the long summer days and cold winter nights.  We discuss and debate issues of local and national interest and feed our views into the national network of Women’s Institutes

In addition to the meetings we regularly organise meals out, lunches, trips, quiz or race nights and other events.

The WI is very much what you want it to be. Beyond the organised programme lies the opportunity to meet new people and create new friendships. The range of ages and interests of our members and the characters and personalities that are always around provide friendship, care and support during the month. These are as close as a phone call or a knock at the door
